Sofie Menter was one of the piano giants of the 19th century and a friend of
both Tchaikovsky and Liszt. Consolation (1910) is a typical salon piece,
lyrical and pleasant, Romance (1907), however, promises something more. Both
originally for piano they have been expertly transcribed for cello and piano
by the international soloist and chamber musician Mats Lidström.
