'Bass-Hymn' was written for the Bavarian Basscamp to provide a piece that
includes players of all levels. Mini-bass players who just started can also
play along with professional soloists and Bass 5 is optional. The aim is that
no player is overwhelmed and also that no one is bored with the piece.
'Bass-Hymn' uses two themes that are repeated many times in different
variations and the composer hopes that the audience will leave singing and
whistling the 'Bass-Hymn'. 'Bass-Hymn' is dedicated to all Bassists and
music lovers in the world. Double bassist, educator and composer Claus
Alexander Freudenstein was born in Bavaria (Germany) in 1972 and after
working as a tax officer for eight years he discovered the double bass and
the electric bass. He studied double bass at the ?Hochschule für Musik und
Theater? and at the ?Richard-Strauss-Conservatory' in Munich and had a career
as a professional electric bass player in several Rock bands. After
graduation he worked as a double bass teacher and also performed with several
German and international orchestras. Claus Freudenstein is the inventor of
the ?Freudenstein-Minibass? - a double bass that enables kids to play the
instrument from the age of five. He founded the international Doublebass
Quartett ?The Bassmonsters? who have performed worldwide. Claus Freudenstein
is an Director of the International Society of Bassists and runs his own
festival 'The Bavarian-Bassdays' alongside which he has given masterclasses
and recitals in Spain, England, Austria, Italy, Malta, Portugal, USA, Hong
Kong, Taiwan and Mexico.
