Beschreibung
This edition includes three versions of the same piece for the talented,
beginner, intermediate and advanced bassist. Trochu Rondo was composed for
Posta100, an international project to celebrate the centenary of the birth of
the Czech double bass virtuoso Frantisek Posta (1919-1991). Directed and
devised by David Heyes, Posta100 will include 100 one-minute pieces for
unaccompanied double bass by leading composers writing for the double bass
today. Eric Funk writes: 'Here you go, something I hope you will find to be
?fun?. It?s a little 1 minute, 23 second Czech-style dance in rondo form
(troche rondo means ?little rondo? in Czech). I?m thinking back and forth
between arco and pizzicato. I?ll leave it to you and our collaborative
approach to determine what is best for double bass, since I obviously don?t
play the instrument. You might find sections that speak better an octave up,
you might have many ideas that lift this into something even more special. I
trust you completely and agree to any edits you might feel best reveal this
happy piece, like something you might hear a folk player performing alone in
the Bohemian Forest. Jaroslav Krcek, Musica Bohemica, is Tomas Svoboda?s best
friend. I?ve heard so many recordings by that phenomenal group. I let
memories of that inspire this piece.' Trochu Rondo was premiered by David
Heyes (double bass) on 1 April 2017 at West Harptree Church (West Harptree,
Somerset, UK).
